Information we collect

We collect information you provide when you create an account, configure a workspace, upload or connect product knowledge, draft articles, request support, or subscribe to a paid plan.

Cowrite may process article briefs, outlines, drafts, source material, Brand Voice Profile inputs, review comments, export preferences, and workspace settings so the product can provide its writing workflow.

  • Account information such as name, email address, authentication state, and workspace membership.
  • Billing information handled through our payment provider. We do not store full payment card numbers.
  • Content and source material you add to Cowrite, including product documentation, prompts, article drafts, generated visuals, comments, and revision history.
  • Usage, device, browser, referral, performance, and diagnostic data from the marketing site and application.

How we use information

We use information to operate Cowrite, maintain your account, generate and review content you request, process subscriptions, prevent abuse, improve reliability, and communicate about the service.

We also use aggregated and limited event data to understand landing page conversion, product adoption, feature quality, and performance. We avoid intentionally sending editor body text, API keys, credentials, or full document content as normal analytics event properties.

AI providers and search tools

When you use Cowrite AI features, relevant prompts, source excerpts, article context, and generated outputs may be sent to the AI, search, extraction, or enrichment providers needed to complete the requested workflow.

Provider availability can vary by product configuration. Cowrite is designed to support included provider access and, where available, bring-your-own-key configuration. Content sent to a provider is governed by that provider relationship and our configuration for the service.

Analytics, cookies, and attribution

Cowrite uses PostHog as a primary analytics platform and may use Google Analytics 4 where enabled. The marketing site stores attribution data such as UTM parameters, referrer, landing page, and first visit timestamp in session storage so we can understand which channels lead to signups.

We use essential cookies or local storage for authentication, security, preferences, and product functionality. Optional analytics and advertising technologies may be enabled according to product configuration and applicable consent requirements.

Service providers

We rely on trusted service providers to host the site and application, operate analytics, process payments, deliver AI and search workflows, store product data, monitor reliability, and provide support.

These providers are allowed to process information only as needed to provide their services to Cowrite and are expected to protect it using appropriate safeguards.

Sharing and sale of personal information

We do not sell your personal information. We may disclose information to service providers, as required by law, to protect the security and integrity of Cowrite, or as part of a business transaction such as a merger, acquisition, financing, or sale of assets.

Retention and deletion

We keep information for as long as needed to provide Cowrite, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, enforce agreements, and maintain backups or audit records.

You can request deletion of account data by contacting us. Some information may remain for a limited period in backups, security logs, billing records, or records we are legally required to retain.

Security

We use technical and organizational safeguards such as HTTPS, access controls, provider-side security controls, and monitoring. No online service can guarantee absolute security, but we work to reduce risk and respond to issues quickly.

Your choices and rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, export, or object to certain processing of your personal information. You can also opt out of marketing communications and manage cookies through your browser or provider controls.

To make a privacy request, contact contact@mdedit.ai. We may need to verify your identity before completing a request.

International processing and children

Cowrite may process information in the United States and other countries where we or our providers operate. The service is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as Cowrite changes. When we make material changes, we will update this page and may provide additional notice through the product or by email.
